Directory of Professional Storytellers

Durham Region, Ontario, Canada

The Durham Folklore Society held its first meeting in September 1990. Starting with a handful, the membership blossomed and is still growing.

The primary objective of the DFS is to be a forum for the advancement of storytelling in the Durham Region for storytellers and those interested in storytelling and folklore.

Come listen and tell if you wish. Join in the rhythm of story through different mediums - narrative, poetry, song and music, all delivered  through 'Spoken Language.'

The monthly gatherings are friendly, informal and open to all.

The DFS encourages those of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to participate in helping to keep their stories alive.

Writers who have stories to share (contemporary, personal, historical, poetic etc.), are welcome to deliver their material without reading - an invaluable attribute to have when presenting at your author reading.
